Values

Cultivate a Community of Learning

We engage children and adults in ongoing and lifelong learning. We respect the developmental stages of learning and acknowledge the importance of artistic and creative experience as the foundation for academic excellence. We strive to enliven and develop critical thinking, expand experiential knowledge, create beauty and reverence, and develop skills of observation and perception of both self and outside world. A balance of thinking, feeling and willing develops through the striving of children and adults in a community of learning.

Support Development Toward Freedom and Ethical Responsibility

We strive for spiritual growth and self-discipline, along with truth, beauty and goodness. We recognize each person as an individual with a unique task or purpose, and we support the development of each individual’s capacities and creative initiative within the goals of the school. We cultivate ethical responsibility by supporting healthy human development, expanding human understanding and connecting with the human spirit.

Encourage Healthy Individual, Family and Social Life

We strive to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the children. We develop trust, social skills, social consciousness and spiritual awareness by respecting and caring for each other, the environment and the earth. We strive for openness, acceptance and healthy social interaction by being interested in and listening to members of the school community and by encouraging diversity and appreciation of differences. We recognize and appreciate the gifts of each individual, the beauty in the world around us and the quality and value of time achieved through rhythm and balance in our lives.

Lead Through Service

We serve the needs of others and the well-being of the school and greater community by practicing leadership through selfless service. This leadership includes developing ways to share the fruits of Waldorf education with the greater community.
